Off-page SEO, what is outside your website also talks about you, your product or service and, of course, your business. Do you have a blog or a website and would like to appear in the first positions of Google? Stay to read today’s post. We tell you how to optimize your positioning in Google by implementing three simple off-page tricks.
At this point, it is likely that you have tried to implement your SEO positioning strategy, without achieving the expected result, but don’t worry! This is a job that requires time, effort and, above all, continuous improvement. I recommend that you take a look at the ‘Positioning Guide for Bloggers’ in which my colleague Chema García gave us some basic notions about positioning processes.
By definition, Off-page SEO is the implementation of a series of techniques focused on obtaining external links that point to our website to improve its organic positioning in Google and other search engines.
Before starting, it is worth remembering two concepts of marketing and online reputation that influence when defining your SEO strategy.
- DA (Domain Authority). Domain authority is a metric created by the Moz platform, which measures the prestige of a website, taking into account its content quality and credibility. It is measured numerically from 0 to 100, the latter being the highest authority.
- PA (Page Authority). Page authority is a metric similar to DA (also from Moz), but applicable to individual pages or content within a website.
Keep in mind that, in addition, your blog is a communication tool through social networks and that these help your off-page SEO positioning.
Here are three tips that you can implement in your SEO strategy right now. What are you waiting for?
1. Optimize your YouTube channel
If you don’t have one, create your account now! Many bloggers, SMEs or micro-SMEs, have a YouTube channel, but they barely make a profit from it and, on many occasions, they consider that creating content for this platform is a waste of time. Error! YouTube is the 2nd most important search engine and even Google keeps a position in its searches in which it shows us videos. Therefore, if your channel is relevant and has authority, you will be favoring the positioning of your website. Some keys to optimize your channel are: use a list of keywords in the content and description of the video and create internal links to the video (eq. table of contents). For Google, in addition, interaction is important, so you should try to get likes, subscriptions, comments, etc. Tip: you can search for channels of your theme or videos with authority. You can comment on any of these videos by being logged in with your account. This will transmit strength to your channel, and from it to your website.
2. Improve your Linkbuilding strategy
Wikipedia can also help you. Create a profile as an author on wikipedia and enter any article and search using ctrl + F “citation required”. This will show you links that wikipedia requests within that post. You can create a quality article on that topic and ‘voilá’, get a quality link from Wikipedia that points to your website. You can also do a quick Google search with the following formula: site:wikipedia.org “kw” “broken link” (copy and paste without spaces!!) and automatically Google will give you a list of their pages that contain broken links.
3. Gain authority through Broken Link Building
Gain authority through Broken Link Building: To get domains with enough strength and with a high PageRank (PR). You can choose to take over domains that are well positioned but have been abandoned. It is a technique called broken link building, which is used to save yourself the whole process of achieving a good PR and simply, after detecting the “broken” links, start publishing content on already positioned domains. To perform the task of searching for expired domains with great authority,
Various tools can be used. You can sign up for Backorders and be aware of the domains that have expired or are about to expire. A very important aspect will be to check the Page Rank of the page that we are going to acquire. To check the PR there are websites such as calculating PageRank, which will inform us about the PR that the domain has at that exact moment. It is also advisable to review the content and age of the website on the Archive platform, which will allow you to know what type of content has been published on that website during the time it was active.
Summary:
Off-page SEO is a slow task whose fruits are seen in the medium-long term. SEO consultants know this and that is why they do not guarantee results in a short time. Everything helps, but nothing will be enough if you don’t constantly work on this area. Google has increased its sensitivity to Black Hat SEO techniques, so it is better to go the right way, where you go slowly and get the most succulent results. We hope these tricks will help you on this long journey!
